Configuration

Select "Customize" from the "Internet" menu to activate the Settings dialog box. This dialog box contains tabs that control most settings of Clear Your Footprints. Click on any tab title for further information on its content.

The Internet tab lets you customize which Internet items to be cleared.
The Documents tab lets you customize which Documents items to be cleared.
The System tab lets you customize which System items to be cleared.
The options tab includes "Start Minimized", "AutoRun" and other options.
The Schedule tab makes you set automatically clear items at startup, shutdown and timed intervals.
Click OK to save your settings.

After your settings have been reviewed, just select "clear customized items" from the "Internet" menu to clear your defined Items.

the menu item "Edit typed URL history" in "Edit" lets you browse and edit you typed URL history.more details about typed URL history.

the menu item "Edit IE History" in "Edit" lets you browse and edit you IE History.more details about IE History.

Select the Options tab in the Settings Dialog Box to control these options:

AutoRun
Exit after the clear task is complete
Start Minimized
Show System Tray only

Select the Schedule tab in the Settings Dialog Box to control these options:

Automatically clear user defined items at timed intervals
You can set a time to run from 1 minute up to 99 days.
Clear on Windows startup
Clear on Windows shutdown or log off
Clear when this program start


Temporary Internet files
The Temporary Internet Files folder is the location on your hard disk where Web pages you view on the Internet and files (such as photos) are stored as you view them.

If you wish to increases the amount of space available for other files on your computer, be sure to check this option.


Cookie
Some Web sites store information in a small text file, called a "cookie," on your hard disk. Cookies contain information about you and your preferences. For example, if you inquire about a flight schedule at an airline's Web site, the site might create a cookie that contains your itinerary. Or it might only contain a record of which pages within the site you visited, to help the site customize the view for you the next time you visit.
Only the information that you provide, or the choices you make while visiting a Web site, can be stored in a cookie. For example, the site cannot determine your e-mail name unless you choose to type it. Allowing a Web site to create a cookie does not give that or any other site access to the rest of your computer, and only the site that created the cookie can read it.

Cookie might contain user name, password, email and so on. An advanced user may be able to browse your Cookie folder and see the sites you've visited if he who can touch your computer.

Internet Explorer Location bar

The Location Bar is easiest part of your web browser that others can use to track your actions. When you start typing a web address into the address bar, the browser suggests matching endings in either a drop down list or a "highlighted ending". This permits others to see the list of sites that you have recently visited.

Check this option have Clear Your Footprints clear the Location Bar.But before you clear it ,please shutdown all IE windows,or this operation will fail.

IE History

Internet Explorer keeps track of your viewed pages in the History list.

Internet Explorer creates shortcuts to pages you viewed in this and previous browsing sessions. If you wish to keep private the web pages and files you have viewed, be sure to check on this option.

Password stored in History

Internet Explorer stores all passwords you have input.But sometimes it is not secure for you if you dont want other guys know you password ,please check on this option .

AutoComplete on forms

Internet Explorer stores the AutoComplete content you have input on the forms of some websites,so if you do not want other guys know your privacy that you filled in some forms ,please check on this option .

IE Favorites

You may store some favorites site in IE Favorites,such as www.playboy.com,www.msn.com,so if you do not want other guys know your footprints from your IE Favorites,please check on this option .

 

Recent Documents

Windows keeps a list of the most recent files you opened in the Documents menu. This includes any web pages, word processing documents, sound clips, video clips, or any other type of file you may open. This is one of the easiest ways for other users to track your actions on the system. Check this option have Paper Shredder clear Recent Documents.

System temporary files

The System Temporary Files folder contains some temporary files left by some install programs,almost all of them are useless.

If you wish to increases the amount of space available for other files on your computer, be sure to check this option.

Last logon user history

When you log on windows ,you user name be keeps in last logon user history,if you do not want other people know you have used the computer, then check this option.

Run history

When you type command in "Start->Run",you will find some commands you have typed,this option will help you clear them.

Edit typed URL history

It's allow you browse and edit the typed URL history in location bar,you can add,edit ,remove typed URL history freely.
